2008 Season - Week 23

A week is a long time with the BUMS

Attached is the favourite chart of the year giving a graphical view of your position in the league table each week. What we can clearly see is that Wayne dominated the Premiership leading for the last 16 weeks while Cheryl led after week one. But a third of the way into the season Cheryl and Ron had dropped into a position they would not escape from. The French Virgins led the Conference from week 2 to week 12 but in the end a lack of experience saw David’s team crumble under the pressure and they lost out to Marcus in the last week of the season for the final promotion spot. How high did you fly- how low did you go? All-Time Leading Points Scorer Johnny’s remains the all-time leading regular season points scorer while Chief regained the 2nd spot he lost to Mark B last year. Chief extended his lead as highest post-season scorer with Mark B 2nd & Marcus 3rd and Chief also remains the Official All-Time Leading Points scorer with Mark B 2nd & Johnny 3rd. Wayne remains the highest annual average scorer with Chief 2nd and Johnny 3rd. See the attached – I wouldn’t lie to you. Franchise Players 2007-2008 As with last year I shall be asking for your Franchise players for the next two years early in June as any key Free Agency moves plus big draft signings will have an impact on your decisions. Free Agency begins in 2 weeks while ESPN Guru Mel Kiper Jnr’s mock draft includes Georgia QB Matt Stafford going number 1 to Detroit, USC QB Mark Sanchez (3) to Kansas City, Texas Tech WR Michael Crabtree (4) to Seattle, Missouri WR Jeremy Maclin (7) to Oakland, Oklahoma State TE Brandon Pettigrew (11) to Buffalo and Georgia RB Knowshon Moreno (16) to San Diego. That could mean he end of LT with the Chargers. Draft Order In the same way the play-off seeding works the draft order is based on lowest to highest scorer irrespective of division. Therefore Ron is on the clock while Wayne will have the 16th pick. The full order is Ron, Cheryl, Daz, George, Mark B, AP, David S, Marcus, Aaron, Andy H, Mark H, Dave G, Johnny, John, Chief and Wayne . There will be an extra pick at the end of the 5th round for Chief and then Wayne as the top 2 in the league showed they’d cut unproductive Franchise players in order to succeed. 2009-10 franchise players will be selected early in the Summer after the draft and most of free agency has taken place. BUMS on Seats The NFL Draft is on the evening of Saturday April 25th and Sunday 26th. Hopefully it will be back live on TV again and we can get together to see the first round develop.
